The Trailblazers - Lecture 2
InsIghT presents the second part of a daily review of the Trailblazers series, a set of interactive sessions with eminent alumni. The guest for 14.10.08 was Mr. Ravi Gupta, CEO, Mukta Arts.
Mr. Gupta first talked about five things he had learnt from IITB that had stood him in good stead. Among them were the ability to think creatively and the feeling that one should give back to one's college. He then talked about important decisions one should make in life.
Mr. Gupta then mesmerized the audience with an account of his life - more than one audience member was heard to remark that his life had been just like a 'movie script'. He joined the IPS after graduating from IITB in 1973, and spent 10 years there. He said that these 10 years were among the most important in his life, as he learnt resource and people management. He then started a series of ventures in the field of Film, where he experienced both failure and great success. He said that he learnt more from his failures than even his successes - and that was no mean feat, given the magnitude of his successes. He then talked about how, in his life, he had always made the pursuit of happiness his main aim, and of how that is a very good way to live life.
There was then a short question and answer session with the audience, where the questions asked ranged from the serious (how did the IPS help you?) to the frivolous (what are your future plans?).
All in all, the session was a huge success, and the standing ovation by the audience at the end rounded off a very enjoyable evening.
